about the site

in one of my very early iterations of this site (circa 2020), i originally said something along the lines of:

something about w○○blys site editor not having been updated even after sq○○res acquistion of it left a lot of things to desire. so to, sort of, satiate said desires im dredging up my past in less-than-mediocre t○mblr css editing and the little coding literacy taught from my less-than-educational intro to python course in college for this.

i dedicated 2-3 days to reading the mimosa confessions by mei hachimoku at the end of june to procrastinate on re-reading and finishing golden kamuy by satoru noda, which i did to take a break from writing notes for a presentation i was putting together for fun. my expanded impressions and thoughts on the title won’t be shared here, as i’ve already expressed them extensively in other avenues1- it’s just a well i’ve exhausted at this point.

blogging was put on hold because my keyboard writing time was taken up by putting together presentation slides on my journaling/planner system this year in preparation for a friend’s (dotori on twitch) online techo kaigi (手帳会議)! we had our little assembly over stream that you can find an archive for on dotori’s youtube channel.

brief introduction on what a techo kaigi is for the uninitiated: literally, it means “notebook assembly/meeting”- it’s a theme by which fellow journaling enthusiasts come together and discuss the current notebooks and tools they’ve been using to journal and plan with. you don’t necessarily need to “meet” with other people to discuss what your current journal and planner stack for a year are- a quick search will show you that plenty of folks share what they’re using and their thoughts on their own journal rotation and usage within stand-alone youtube videos or blogposts. if you’re interested in learning more, look up “techo kaigi” at your nearest available search engine.

blogging was originally put on hold because my keyboard writing time got taken up by the effort of putting together presentation slides for a casual, fun little event (i’ve already got something in the drafts that will go further into this). soon afterwards, i was trainbound for an out-of-state trip wherein i did not write on either of the 10h rides to and from my destination despite my plans to. then, i spent a week paying off my sleep debt. and now, here we are- well over a month after my initial post!

first blog post how exciting! also my first time using a static site generator, but it’s already taken a huge load off my shoulders in regards to well… actually learning css/html. i only know how to use crutches, woops.

currently using the “hugo bear blog” theme at the moment, but i might change this since i’m unsure how much it’ll work for certain archival needs.

in the meantime, i’ll enjoy all the negative space here for as long as i can.
